Landing Pages and Squeeze Pages, Oh My!

Even though people are getting increasingly active on sites like Facebook and Twitter, they still find the time to provide more substantial updates on their blogs as well. The same can be said about more commercially-oriented blogs that are attached to companies, as well as blogs that report on their respective niches.

One thing that you do have to recognize, however, is that these blogs don’t need to exist in isolation. Just as it helps to syndicate your blog updates to a Twitter account, the same can be said about interconnecting your blog to some of your other web properties. With a greater level of integration, you can extract greater value from your site visitors.

For instance, having you considered using a blog attached to your company website? The main website can be used to list your products and services, but the blog can provide more minor updates about product developments, upcoming sales, and other company news.

You can add even more value by writing about your niche, establishing your company, you, or your brand as a respected expert in your field. If people see that you know your industry well, they’re more likely to respect your opinion on related matters.

Similarly, most landing pages end up being longer sales letters that seem to exist in isolation. This doesn’t have to be the case. You can just as easily attach a blog to a landing page as an extra link, giving people the opportunity to read more about your company and your product offerings.

Perhaps one of the more interesting applications for a blog is to have it attached to a squeeze page. A squeeze page can be great for collecting emails and adding to your list, but they’re much more effective when you can offer an incentive.

Some people offer free e-books or other resources. Alternatively, you can provide access to a members-only blog where exclusive content can be posted regularly. This can be very motivating for potential customers and contacts.

When you set up just about any Internet property, it is very easy to attach a blog to that website as well. WordPress is incredibly easy to install and it doesn’t have to take much effort to completely customize it to your needs too.

Having the blog attached to your websites, landing pages, and squeeze pages offers the added advantage of search engine optimization too. Search engines like Google prefer sites that are regularly updated with new, quality content. A landing page can stay static for far too long, falling further and further down the rankings. By using a blog, it can stay at the top for your targeted keywords.
